Last year back in December, Jordan Brand made an announcement about the second round of their Retro Remaster initiative. Jordan Brand claimed that retro Air Jordan sneakers tend to remind wearers of a particular game or moment from Michael Jordan’s illustrious career. Jordan Brand had already kick started the “remastered” initiative in 2015, so Jordanheads were already quite familiar with it. The main premise of their next Retro Remaster initiative was to bring back the heel Nike Air logo on retro Air Jordan sneakers. The latest sneaker from this initiative is among next month’s Air Jordan releases 2016 and it is the Air Jordan 5 OG ’90 “Black-Metallic Silver.”
Sneakerheads can definitely be certain that the Air Jordan 5 OG ’90 “Black-Metallic Silver” will be an extremely accurate and high quality remastered retro. As they did for the Air Jordan 4 OG ’89 “White Cement,” which hit the shelves earlier this year in February, Jordan Brand delve in their archives to source the original Air Jordan 5 “Black/Metallic Silver” from the 90s. This will ensure that they end up using the right and same finishes, temper and texture of the leather, and thread colors. Hence, this year’s version will be a replica of the original.
Since this sneaker will be staying true to the original, the nubuck uppers of this sneaker will be identically dressed up predominantly in ominous Black. The side panels feature the model’s signature netting. The tongues sport a metallic look, which is a result of the Reflective 3M material they are made up of. Not only do the outsoles and tongues feature the Jumpman logos, the heels also bear the Nike Air branding too. Last but not least, the sneaker is also equipped with a combination of Black midsoles and icy, translucent outsoles as well as translucent lace locks. Based on what Jordan Brand has confirmed, the Air Jordan 5 OG ’90 “Black-Metallic Silver” will retail at a price of $220 on July 23.
