In recent times, numerous Air Jordan colorways have received the OG “Nike Air” treatment and apparently one particular upcoming Jordan releases 2015 will carry on that trend. It was back in February 2003, when the original “Nike Air” branding made on the on the Air Jordan 3 Retro ’88 “White Cement. Ever since, Jordan Brand has brought back quite a few Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG colorways featuring the “Nike Air” logo, just like back in the days. Apparently, Jordan Brand intends to do the same with colorways of a few other models and the Air Jordan 5 is possibly among them.
Apart from the Air Jordan 5 that can be seen here; upcoming renditions of the Air Jordan 4 and the Air Jordan 6 have also received a similar treatment. The “White/Cement” colorway of the Air Jordan 4, which is going to be re-released as a Retro OG next year, is going to be an integral part of the All-Star Weekend. The highly anticipated “Maroon” colorway of the Air Jordan 6 is also returning this year and it is being speculated that it will hit the shelves early December. If the Air Jordan 5 “Metallic Silver” seen here will indeed arrive at retailers soon, then sneakerheads could end up with an Air Jordan 5 pair that bears the “Nike Air” logo.
The last time the “Nike Air” branding was spotted on the Air Jordan 5 was back in 1999 and it was this very colorway. While the Air Jordan 5 “Metallic Silver” visible in the photo looks exactly like the OG version from 1999, complete with the “Nike Air” branding, the logo does appear to the relatively smaller than it originally was. This could mean that the pair previewed here is an early concept or perhaps a sample, but hopefully Jordan Brand does indeed intend to drop it eventually. In fact, rumor has it that a Jordan release 2016 is planned for this Air Jordan 5 “Metallic Silver” somewhere during next year’s Holiday Season, which means Jordanheads will have to wait an entire year.
