Steve Mills, the current executive president of the New York Knicks, recently laid out his outline for the team and for some reason Carmelo Anthony’s name was not included. It is definitely peculiar, considering that Carmelo was the leading scorer of the New York Knicks during the 2016–17 NBA season. Perhaps it has something to do with the no-trade clause in Carmelo’s contract and his desire to be traded to the Houston Rockets. Despite being seemingly omitted from the plan for his own team’s future, Carmelo somehow ended up rocking the latest model from Jordan Brand’s signature line, way before it joins upcoming Jordan releases 2017.
Readers might recall the post about Carmelo Anthony working out during the off-season, laced up in a sneaker, which was at the time believed to be the Jordan Melo M14. Rather than a detailed look, those photos merely offered a glimpse at the all-Black sneaker. The sneaker appeared to be equipped with breathable mesh upper, fuse toecaps, and rigid ankle collars and heels, which made it seem like it was indeed the Melo M14. Of course, it would make sense for Carmelo to be rocking his own latest signature sneaker model. However, it turns out that the pair was actually an early Air Jordan 32 sample.
Just recently, a photo was leaked that offers a preview of the Air Jordan 32’s debut colorway, which has been dubbed “MJ Day.” Now, Instagram user @pinoe77 has shared a complete photo of the sneaker itself, which provides a much better look at the Air Jordan 32 “MJ Day.” It definitely seems to be inspired by the Air Jordan 2, especially because of features like its heel grooves, Jordan “Wings” branding on the tongues and the mudguard’s design. Its uppers appear to be predominantly made up of Flyweave, with premium leather detailing throughout, sporting a Black and Red color scheme, and icy Blue-colored, translucent outsoles.
In addition to this photo, it has also somewhat been confirmed that Jordan Brand’s latest signature model will be among upcoming Air Jordan releases 2017, although sneakers will have to wait two more months. Rumors suggest that the Air Jordan 32 “MJ Day” will make its retail debut at a price of $185 on October 18th, 2017.
