This past Saturday, hundreds of Drake’s fans gathered outside the newest flagship store of his OVO clothing brand at Yorkdale Mall. The OVO (October’s Very Own) store sells everything from apparel to even lighters and water bottles. Yorkdale Mall happens to be the fourth largest mall in Canada and many of Drake’s fans spent the night outside it in order to be the first customers of the store. Next year, it seems that Drake will even be involved with Jordan Brand for the release of these Air Jordan 8 colorways that sneakerheads may recall seeing before. Hence, these OVO-themed sneakers will be joining next year’s Jordan releases 2018.
Drake tends to play it safe when it comes to style, blending 90s fashion and minimalistic streetwear. At least some readers might recall, late in May of this year, Drake’s OVO clothing brand and the iconic Clarks Originals footwear brand teamed up to release a collaborative version of the latter’s classic desert boots. This collaboration resulted in the release of the OVO x Clarks “Made in England” Collection, which included Black, Tan and Violet colorways of the desert boots that featured a premium Janus suede construction. The boots also had a custom OVO pattern embossed throughout and were equipped with tags bearing the OVO owl branding.
If sneakerheads feel these two Air Jordan 8 Retro iterations look familiar, it is likely because they remember Drake sporting these kicks two years ago. Back in September 2015, Drake shared a photo of an Air Jordan 8 with almost completely Black-colored uppers and Gold-colored detailing, which was the same iteration he wore during that year’s OVO Fest. Then in December 2015, during a game between the Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder, Drake was among the audience, rocking a nearly all-White Air Jordan 8 iteration with Gold-colored accents.
Sneakerheads can expect these two OVO x Air Jordan 8 colorways to retail at the price of $225 among January’s Air Jordan releases 2018. In fact, it is being rumored that these two sneakers will end up dropping next year on January 20th, 2018.
