The 30th Anniversary celebration of Jordan Brand continues with the 2015 Jordan releases of the returning Air Jordan 11 IE Low “Militia Green.” However, it did not arrive at retailers on its own; rather it hit the shelves as a part of the Air Jordan Retro Militia Green Collection. Along with low-top IE version of the Air Jordan 11, “Militia Green” colorways of the Air Jordan 1.5 and the Air Jordan 1 KO also made their retail debut as a part of the collection.
The Air Jordan 11 IE was the very first low-top Air Jordan sneaker ever since the debut of the Air Jordan 3 back in 1988. It has been speculated that the IE stands for “International Edition,” considering that the signature patent leather featured on the Air Jordan 11 was replaced with elephant printed texture with extra ventilation. Tinker Hatfield has even concisely explained why he removed the patent leather for this alternate version of the sneaker.
Tinker Hatfield claims that patent leather is a heavier and stiffer material, so it would not be fit for the summer season. This is why he opted for a classic elephant print look with cut-out vents. Tinker wanted the alternate version of the Air Jordan 11 to be easier to wear and lighter for summer. However, the Air Jordan 11 IE Low “Militia Green” does not sport elephant print, rather it features a croc-skin mudguard that adds a reptilian effect to the sneaker. The sneaker itself is predominantly dressed up in black, while Gum Yellow and Militia Green accents can be spotted throughout.
While the Air Jordan 11 IE Low “Militia Green” itself is definitely copping, sneakerheads should not forget about the Jordan release 2015 of the rest of the Militia Green Collection. On September 19th, the “Militia Green” colorways of the Air Jordan 1 KO, the Air Jordan 1.5 and the Air Jordan 11 IE Low hit the shelves at select Jordan retailers all over the globe as a part of the collection.
