Somewhat in commemoration of the 2016 NBA All-Star Weekend and Game, Jordan Brand launched a new flagship retail store in Toronto at 306 Yonge and Michael Jordan himself was present at the opening. The 306 Yonge location is actually the first one to have been established and opened by Jordan Brand in Canada. It is courtesy of this new store that Jordanheads have been able to take a glance at some exclusive sneakers and even kicks scheduled for a Jordan releases 2016 later this year. Readers may have noticed the Air Jordan 12 “French Blue” among them, but that is actually a sample variation.
Sneakerheads who actually attended the store’s launch were likely quite surprised to find Michael Jordan amongst them, many of them probably even taking a peek at what MJ himself had laced up in. The fact of the matter is that the G.O.A.T. was sporting the Air Jordan 4 OG ’89 “White Cement” for the occasion, which has just hit the shelves not so long ago. The sight was likely a reminder of 1989 when Michael Jordan had originally rocked the sneaker, but it was not the only notable pair of kicks seen at Jordan Brand’s 306 Yonge flagship location.
The Air Jordan 12 “French Blue” sample featured here, which was on display at the Toronto-based store, had actually be crafted by Jordan Brand back in 2004. It is an alternate version of the Air Jordan 12 colorway that is scheduled to arrive at retailers next month. Perhaps Jordanheads recall that Michael Jordan once played as a part of the Washington Wizards, albeit briefly, and Jordan Brand had designed this variation for that brief tenure.
Despite looking almost identical to its iconic counterpart, complete with a tumbled leather upper, but the outsole of this edition is actually dressed up in Black. The Jordan release 2016 of the actual Air Jordan 12 “French Blue” is slated to take place on March 26th.
