Amongst the countless Jordan release dates 2015, one of the highlights of this year was the collaboration between Jordan Brand and Just Don, which led to the rebirth of the Air Jordan 2. Apparently, this occurrence is going to repeat itself next year because apparently this special Air Jordan rendition, which has been dubbed “Radio Raheem,” will be amongst the Jordan releases 2016.
Jordanheads who happen to be Spike Lee fans and have watched his films probably recognize the nickname of this Air Jordan 2 colorway, or at least feel that it sounds familiar. That is because the inspiration of this sneaker iteration comes from the character of the same name from “Do the Right Thing,” a film directed by Spike Lee that was released on June 30, 1989. At the same time, this special version of the Air Jordan 2 is also inspired by previous “Do the Right Thing” colorways of Air Jordan silhouettes, all of which drew inspiration from the film itself.
Radio Raheem was amongst the most lovable characters from the film, recognized for the huge boombox that he carried around and “Fight the Power” by Public Enemy blaring out from its speakers. As a symbol of the struggle between the love and hate, he also used to wear two four-fingered rings on each hand that spelled out the two words.
Primarily, this is rendition of the Air Jordan 2 is dressed up entirely in Black with contrasting touches in the form of Blue piping and a partly Blue-colored heel. The lace eyelets actually feature multiple colors, including Purple, which can also be spotted beneath the all-White sole unit. The image currently available looks more like an illustration rather an actual photo of the pair, so it is impossible to tell what these kicks really look like.
No doubt, the Air Jordan 2 “Radio Raheem” does not look as colorful as “Do the Right Thing” Air Jordan iterations that arrived at retailers in the past. However, it is a still a stunning sneaker that is rumored to be hitting the shelves on one of the Spring Jordan release dates 2016, so there is still plenty of time for official photos of the kicks to surface.
