Less than 10 weeks remain until the Summer Olympics kick off in Rio de Janeiro, but health experts are still adamant that the games should not proceed and be held on as per the schedule. Over 150 medial professionals signed an open letter to express their concerns over the spread of the Zika virus all over the world, which was then sent to the World Health Organization. Even Pau Gasol of the Chicago Bulls who has won an Olympic silver medal twice is also considering skipping this year’s games. However, it is unlikely that all this will change Jordan Brand’s plans to drop Olympic-themed Air Jordan releases.
By now, Jordanheads likely know plenty about the Air Jordan 7 “Tinker Alternative,” the alternative version of the model’s “Olympic” iteration that is scheduled to arrive at retailers on August 16th. Many collectors probably also have their eyes set on the Olympic-themed Air Jordan 5 Retro colorways that were unveiling in the beginning of April. Sneakerheads have already gotten a full and proper look at one of those two colorways, the one that is dubbed “Olympic.” The colorway nicknamed “Bronze” had merely been teased, but now Instagram user @pdxdoeswork shared a photo that previews the entire sneaker.
Last time, Jordanheads had only seen the tongue of the Air Jordan 5 “Bronze.” The uppers of this sneaker, which appear to be featuring a premium leather construction, are dressed up completely in Obsidian. Contrasting elements of this sneaker include the all-White midsoles that it is equipped with and the Metallic Bronze hue that covers the lacelocks, patent leather tongues and the shark teeth featured on the midsoles.
Even though this Air Jordan 5 colorway is also somehow associated with the Rio 2016 Olympics, Jordanheads will not be able to cop a pair until after the games are over, unless they are delayed. As per Jordan Brand’s release schedule, the Air Jordan 5 “Bronze” will hit the shelves on September 24th and will retail at a price of $190.
