Jordanheads have every right to be excited when the 2015 Jordan releases of an unreleased Air Jordan sample is finally taking place. This time around, the sample they are likely feeling excited about is the Air Jordan 11 IE Low “Referee,” which was first made an appearance almost 20 years ago. While it is not uncommon for NBA athletes to receive Player Exclusive sneakers, but this particular Air Jordan 11 IE Low colorway was specifically created for referees, since all-black sneakers are a part of their dress code.
Slightly more than a month ago, Jordanheads were given a glance at the “Bred” colorway of the Air Jordan 11 IE Low. This upcoming “Referee” colorway is also being referred to as the “Black Cat,” although the “Referee” is a more appropriate nickname for it. Originally, Jordan Brand had whipped up this colorway back in 1996 and nearly two decades have passed ever since. During the season, NBA referees were only permitted to lace up in all-black sneakers, such as this upcoming colorway. While the upcoming version is not exactly the same as the original sneaker, but it is still a quality retro that is arriving at retailers for the very first time.
This Air Jordan 11 IE Low iteration is made of a premium leather and suede upper, which is dressed up entirely in tonal black. Nubuck accents that were featured on the original have been replaced with suede, the tongue sports a less-tumbled leather appearance and Jumpman logo featured on the tongue is covered in a brighter red hue. The tonal black upper has been paired with a dark grey midsole and a translucent black outsole.
Jordanheads will now have wait just a few more days for the arrival of the Air Jordan 11 IE Low “Referee” to hit the shelves. Jordan Brand has already confirmed that the sneaker will arrive at select retailers where collectors can grab it for a price of $170 on September 26th.
