When it comes to Jordan Brand’s history, the Nike Swoosh has played quite a complex role. It was not until 1997 that Jordan Brand was officially created as a sub-brand of Nike, which was followed by the release of the Air Jordan 13. However, Air Jordan sneakers had already begun featuring the Jumpman symbol as their logo in place of any Nike logos way before that, ever since the Air Jordan 2 made its debut. Hence, this makes the Air Jordan 1 the only Jordan Brand signature model to sport the Nike Swoosh logo to this very day, or so it seems.
It seems that the latest makeover that the Air Jordan 1 has received, specifically the low-top version of the silhouette, is perhaps the most extreme one to date. Recently, Instagram user @jacobkeller shared the very first photos that make it obvious that Jordan Brand are going to be carrying on with their latest trend by giving the Air Jordan 1 Low OG a premium upgrade. Perhaps the quality may not be the same as the high-top Air Jordan 1 Pinnacle releases, but the element that makes these upcoming Air Jordan 1 Low iterations unique is the lack of a Nike Swoosh on their side panels.
Indeed, these latest official-looking photos from Instagram user @ractvshift make it obvious that there is not one but three different Swoosh-less Air Jordan 1 Low OG colorways that are on their way to retailers. All three sneakers are made up of soft full-grain leather and the Nike Swooshes that Jordanheads have grown accustomed to seeing on the side panels are absent. These three sneakers also sport tonal uppers, each dressed up entirely in Arctic Orange, Black and Olive. Two other features they have in common are the all-white sole units that they are equipped with and the embossed Nike Air branding that can be spotted on the tongues.
Some Jordanheads might even be finding it hard to consider these three sneakers as Air Jordan 1 renditions, but that does not change the fact that they certainly are. Much like several other unconfirmed Jordan release dates 2016, those interested in copping a pair of all or any of these three colorways will have to wait and keep checking back for further updates.
