The opening night of the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season took place on November 6th, 2018. In the past, there have been complaints that the college basketball’s opening night has not been adequately celebrated, but that is no longer the case. The recent opening night was very eventful, with the highlight being the two top-10 matchups of the 2018 Champions Classic. The Duke Blue Devils dominated opening night and defeated the Kentucky Wildcats with a score of 118-84. However, the Georgetown Hoyas, Marquette Golden Eagles, Michigan Wolverines, and the North Carolina Tar Heels also stood out for being laced up in Air Jordan 33 PEs.
The Highlights Of The 2018–19 NCAA Opening Night
Another team that performed impressively during college basketball’s opening night was the Kansas Jayhawks, especially considering all the hype surrounding them. In fact, the Jayhawks and the Wolverines had quite an interesting match, with the Jayhawks gaining the victory by finishing with 21 points. As far as the Champions Classic leaderboard is concerned, the Blue Devils are certainly at the top, followed by the Jayhawks, then the Wildcats, and finally the Wolverines. The North Carolina Tar Heels avenged their defeat by the Wofford Terriers last year in North Carolina itself by scoring a 78-67 victory against the Terriers. The Texas Longhorns’ Andrew Jones also made his comeback.
The Air Jordan 33 PEs From The 2018–19 NCAA Opening Night
Back in October, the North Carolina Tar Heels had already revealed that Jordan Brand had whipped up an Air Jordan 33 PE colorway for them. However, as you know now, each of the collegiate basketball teams sponsored by Jordan Brand have received two different Air Jordan 33 PEs dressed up in their official team colors and feature their logos. In case you are not already aware, the uniforms of the four teams also bear the “Jumpman” branding. Thus, the sneakers are a perfect match with their respective jerseys and shorts. Of course, you should know that PE iterations like these will not be joining upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018.
