It is a fact that both Jordan Brand and Neymar are worthy of being considered giants in the sporting world in their own rights and now these giants have united for the very first time. In fact, Neymar might just be the first professional footballer with his own Jordan Brand collection, but also the first one to rock cleats that bear the Jumpman logo. This is all particularly noteworthy because Neymar is not really a Jordan Brand athlete. Along with the Air Jordan 5 Low “Neymar,” the recently unveiled Neymar Jr. x Jordan Brand Collection includes cleat and sneaker variations of the Nike Hypervenom.
Along with the fact that Neymar is a part of this collaboration, this is also the first time that Jordan Brand and Nike Football have teamed up to design performance footwear. Apparently this is why both, identical versions of the Hypervenom have borrowed classic Air Jordan elements, one even from the Air Jordan 5 that is also included in this collection. While the uppers of the Hyervenom are dressed up almost entirely in Black, the large Nike Swoosh featured across its sides and toe boxes is covered in the same Reflective Silver as the one the Air Jordan 5 Low sports.
The Hypervenom has even borrowed the Air Jordan 5 Low’s signature shark tooth pattern, which is not only covered in the same Reflective Silver but is also topped with the classic Air Jordan cement print. Readers who are wondering where the “Jumpman” logos are, there are actually three, all of which are covered in an Infrared hue that can be spotted over the inner lining. One is featured on the heels, another can be seen inside on the cement print-covered insoles and finally, there is also one beneath the soles. Additionally, the laces also sport the letters “DL,” which is the initials of Neymar’s son, while both versions also sport his “10” and MJ’s “23” just like the Air Jordan 5 Low.
As can be seen in one of the above photos, Michael Jordan and Neymar even hung out during a special event that was held in New York City at Terminal 23. Even Nathan Van Hook, Nike’s design director, was present there. As for the Neymar Jr. x Jordan Brand Collection, which includes the Air Jordan 5 Low “Neymar” and two Nike Hypervenom variations, it is now available.
