It was back in 2013 when the Toronto Raptors announced Drake as their new “global ambassador,” which makes sense since the rapper is from Toronto as well. The game that took place between the Brooklyn Nets and the Toronto Raptors on May 2nd, 2014 was probably not a joyful moment for Drake, considering that his team had to face defeat. However, Drake himself likely did not fail impress all the Jordanheads in the crowd since they must have delighted to catch a glimpse of the Air Jordan 12 OVO “White” pair that he was laced up at the at Barclays Center.
It took two whole years, but Jordan Brand finally unveiled the sneaker officially in February of this year and they also went on to reveal that it would actually be among the Air Jordan releases 2016. Had this not happened, Jordanheads would have probably went on to continue believing that the luxurious Air Jordan 12 iteration was a 1-of-1 pair from Drake’s own Air Jordan collection. The Air Jordan 12 OVO “White” was even displayed at the pop-up shop that Jordan Brand had set up in Utah recently to commemorate Michael Jordan’s “Flu Game.”
While Drake has certainly played his part in the designing process of the sneaker, the general public will also be able to get their hands on it when it hits the shelves next month. Considering the lavish construction of the sneaker, it is understand why it might get mistaken for a PE. After all, its pristine uppers are made up of pure White tumbled leather, while the forefeet are covered in similar stingray leather. Adding to the elegance of this sneaker, Metallic Gold detailing can be spotted over the eyelets and the branding featured on the outsoles and tongues.
Based on reports, this sneaker will most likely be one of July 2016’s Air Jordan releases, although that is subject to change. The Air Jordan 12 OVO “White” could potentially end up arriving at retailers on July 30th, but the sneaker’s retail price has not been revealed yet.
