It was back in 2007 when Jordan Brand had last retroed the Air Jordan 11 IE Low. While Jordan Brand had dropped numerous iterations of the IE version of their eleventh signature sneaker, but the colorways that had hit the shelves were lacking one particular O.G. style. Apparently, one of the upcoming Jordan release dates 2015 will now be marking the much-awaited return of that O.G. rendition, which is the Air Jordan 11 IE Low “Cobalt.”
For Jordanheads who are not aware, the “IE” was introduced back in 1996 as a low-cut version of the Air Jordan 11, but did not exactly resemble the eleventh silhouette. The very first time the low-top “IE” was retroed was back in 2003, and it made its way to retail shelves in both its original colorways. The “IE” was retroed once again back in 2007, and in a matter of just 3 months, Jordan Brand had dropped six new renditions of this Air Jordan 11 version.
In simple words, the Air Jordan 11 IE Low is a more minimalistic sneaker with an upper made up of leather instead of ballistic mesh and the traditional patent overlays have been replaced with a layer of the iconic Cement/Elephant Print. The “IE” version even features vents. The colorway that is dubbed “Cobalt” happens to be one of the two originals that debuted in 1996 and it has been a long time since it has been seen on retail shelves.
The low-top “Cobalt” iteration sports a lifestyle-friendly appearance that latest colorways have lacked. Predominantly, the sneaker’s entire upper is covered in a clean, crisp White hue. However, this colorway gets its nickname from the Cobalt-colored overlays that have vents incorporated into them and are topped with the Cement/Elephant print. Some more contrast comes from the Blue Jordan “Jumpman” logo visible on the tongue, while it is equipped with a classic icy outsole instead of a gum one.
Instagram user @zsneakerheadz for the first one to report that one of the August Jordan release dates 2015 would be marking the comeback of the Air Jordan 11 IE Low “Cobalt.” Apparently, the sneaker will hit the shelves on August 11th and sneakerheads who have long been awaiting its release will be able to cop it for $170.
