Spring has already begun and a few months later it will be summer, so it is not surprising that Jordan Brand is hoping to set fire to the scorching summer heat with a very special release. So far, 2016 has proven to be the year in which age old Air Jordan iterations have been brought back from the vault to receive the new retro remaster treatment. Consequently, the heels of these sneakers once again sported the Nike Air logo when they arrived at retailers. The Air Jordan 5 “Black/Metallic” is one such sneaker that Jordanheads will now be able to add to their collection.
It was back in December 2015 when Jordan Brand announced that they would kick of 2016 with a new Retro Remaster initiative and the news took the sneaker world by storm. Last year, quite a few sneakers have made a comeback sporting their original character but with better, more premium cushioning, hues and materials. With the third month of this year nearing its end, Jordan Brand did indeed take things to a whole new level by adding the Nike Air branding to some very iconic sneakers that they recently brought back. These include the Air Jordan 4 OG ’89 “White/Cement” and the Air Jordan 6 “Maroon.”
No wonder, the classic Air Jordan 5 “Black / Black – Metallic Silver,” which is the most popular installment from the fifth Air Jordan model’s lineup, will feel and look like it did back in the days. Just like the original, the nubuck uppers of this sneaker will come dressed up entirely in black, while they also feature the silhouette’s signature netting. An element of this sneaker that really makes it stand out is that its tongue features a metallic-colored 3M construction. Both the outsoles and the tongues sport the Jumpman logos, while most importantly, the Nike Air logo is present on the heel.
The impending re-release of the Air Jordan 5 OG “Black/Metallic Silver” has long been confirmed by Jordan Brand, so there is no doubt that the sneaker will indeed make its way retailers. However, Jordanheads will have to continue waiting because the Jumpman will not drop this sneaker until July 23rd.
