A month and a half remain until 2015 comes to an end and the next year begins. It was near the beginning of September this year when rumors started circulating about the upcoming 2016 releases of not one but two colorways of the Air Jordan 17. Considering that there not many Air Jordan 17 iterations up for grabs, Jordan Brand’s seventeenth signature model is regarded as somewhat of a novelty. In fact, the Air Jordan 17 was lasted spotted in the form of a Ray Allen PE that never really hit the shelves but did become available on eBay.
It was back in 2002 when the Air Jordan 17 was first introduced and 13 years have passed ever since. The Air Jordan 17 received the retro treatment only once back in 2008 when Jordan Brand included it in the Jordan 17/6 Collezione “Countdown Pack,” which also had the Air Jordan 6 “Carmine” as a part of it. Not so long ago Jordan Brand was even considering bringing back the Air Jordan 16, but apparently they changed their mind. Many sneakerheads may have realized that Jordan Brand has not dropped retro versions of any new models that arrived after the Air Jordan 15. Perhaps the only exceptions are this year’s Air Jordan 20 colorways and the upcoming Air Jordan 23 “Chicago.”
By the second quarter of 2016, Jordan Brand is planning to drop the Air Jordan 17+ in two different colorways. One colorway is the Air Jordan 17+ OG “Copper” and the other one is a new black, red and white iteration that draws inspiration from the Chicago Bulls. Both sneakers feature the signature shroudless upper of the Air Jordan 17+ while their heels have crock-skin detailing wrapped around them. While there has been no announcement regarding when the Jordan release date 2016 of these two Air Jordan 17+ colorways will take place, but this much is apparently certain that the retail price of each pair will be $250.
