For long, Jordanheads have likely been waiting and wishing for a new or old Air Jordan 16 colorways to hit the shelves and apparently, the latter might actually end up happening this year. If the rumors that have been spreading are actually true, then the Air Jordan 16 might indeed make its comeback to retailers this year in a classic iteration that was last seen on retail shelves 15 years ago. Indeed, it seems very likely that the Jordan release date of the Air Jordan 16 “Midnight Navy” will end up taking place year and after 15 years, the sneaker will be up for grabs once again.
Jordan Brand had designed the sixteenth Air Jordan model to be unique, so that it could be worn both on the court and the street. The versatility of the Air Jordan 16 becomes obvious from its appearance. The silhouette happens to be equipped with a shroud that can be removed, while it tends to much roomer at the front than previous Air Jordan models since its toe box is square shaped. The Air Jordan 16 was designed by Wilson Smith III, who drew inspiration from boots worn by those in a marching band, but at the same time it is a high performance and sleek basketball shoe.
The Air Jordan 16 “Midnight Navy” made its original retail debut back in 2001 and this is the first time that it will be receiving the retro treatment. Not so long ago, @realchickenwop posted a photo on Instagram of the Air Jordan 16 “Midnight Navy” alongside the returning Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game.” This year’s upcoming “Midnight Navy” version will likely resemble the original with a White tumbled leather upper with a contrasting patent leather toe box that is dressed up in the same Midnight Navy hue that appears over the heel, inner lining, the tongue, and as other accents. The removable shroud that covers the laces and Midnight Navy meshing underneath is also covered in White.
This year’s returning Jordan release 2016 of the Air Jordan 16 “Midnight Navy” is seemingly evident. However, Jordan Brand is yet to announce something as far as a release date and a retail price is concerned, so stay tuned.
