2016 seems to be like 2012 all over again because much like four years ago, it is turning out to be the year of the Air Jordan 12. Back in Summer 2012, Jordan Brand set a record with the Air Jordan 12 for the OG colorways of a single model to receive the retro treatment in a single quarter. Along with the Air Jordan 12 “Obsidian” and “Taxi,” the “Playoffs” iteration also made its way to retailers, also becoming Jordan Brand’s first release to introduce their Twitter RSVP system. It seems that history will repeat itself in 2017 because the Air Jordan 12 “Playoffs” will return but in low-top form.
It seems that the Air Jordan 12 might end up taking up the spotlight next year as well. Unlike other points in history, retro releases have become quite predominant in the modern sneaker scene over the recent years. However, that is not to say that Jordan Brand does not bring back original sneakers from back in the days from time to time, especially if they have not hit the shelves in the while. On the contrary though, the Air Jordan 12 “Playoffs” was up for grabs just four years ago, but it has never been available with a low cut.
Although the Air Jordan 12 Low “Playoff” will look pretty much like the high-top version from 2012, there is still no way to confirm that since no actual photos of the sneaker are available currently. The photo seen above is actually a Photoshop creation that was shared by Instagram user @jayzdead and it provides an idea of what the sneaker might end up looking. Much like the high-top version, it will most likely also be dressed up in a combination of Black and White with Metallic Silver accents. Information about this sneaker is quite scarce at the moment, but apparently the Air Jordan 12 Low “Playoff” will be one of Jordan releases 2017.
