Air Jordan 1 sneakers have been one of the most anticipated releases of 2015 and the upcoming “Shattered Backboard” rendition is at the forefront such drops. This “Shattered Background” colorway will help further Nike’s commemoration of the Air Jordan 1 Retro’s heritage. Based on the release calendars of various reputable sneaker blogs and sites, the Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Background” is slated to make its retail debut on one of the last few June Jordan release dates 2015.
For Jordanheands who still do not know where this “Shattered Background” iteration takes inspiration from, perhaps the nickname might give a hint. Back in 1985, Michael Jordan was participating in an exhibition match in Italy when he performed one of his most memorable signature dunks that resulted in shattering the backboard. Thus, this Air Jordan 1 colorway was dubbed after MJ’s unforgettable dunk.
The colorscheme that is featured on this sneaker is a combination of Black, Starfish (Orange) and Sail (White). The Starfish hue covers the ankle collar and toebox of the sneakers, while the sides are dressed up in Sail. Black is the predominant color featured on the sneaker, visible around ankle region, lace eyelets, the toebox, while the inner lining, Jordan “Wings” logo, laces and the Nike Swoosh are also in Black. To further signify the fact that this rendition is a nod to Michael Jordan’s slam dunk from ’85, the insoles feature the graphic of a shattered basketball backboard.
As mentioned, one of the upcoming weekend Jordan release dates 2015 is bringing the Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard” to Jordanheads who have been awaiting the arrival of the sneaker. Perhaps they will be further excited to learn that Nike intends to drop this new Air Jordan 1 colorway via their new online raffle system.
Even popular Nike Store locations all over the United States, such as those in Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, have also announced that they will be taking advantage of the new raffle system. Now all that sneaker collectors need to do is make sure they are willing to spend $160 to cop these kicks.
