As the second week of April was underway, Geo Gonzalez had shared photos of his latest sneaker haul on his Instagram account. It had been Opening Day the week before that, so he had showcased his Air Jordan 4 PE Baseball Cleat that Jordan Brand had exclusively designed for him for the beginning of MLB’s regular season. Along with the Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” and the Air Jordan 9 Low “Infrared,” three Air Jordan 10 colorways from the upcoming 2016 City Pack, namely the “Chicago” and “Los Angeles,” while sneakerheads also got their first look at the Air Jordan 10 “Rio.”
Considering that the pitcher of the Washington Nationals also happens to be a Jordan Brand athlete, it makes sense how Geo Gonzalez managed to gets hands on the Air Jordan 10 “Rio” so early. Jordanheads who have read enough about the 2016 City Pack are likely aware that this Air Jordan 10 iteration is inspired by and paying to Rio De Janeiro. The Marvelous City or Cidade Maravilhosa is remarkable and renowned white sandy beaches, such as Copacabana and Ipanema. Coincidentally, Rio is also the city where the Summer Olympic Games 2016 will be taking place.
As can be seen, Instagram user @icyheatsole has even posted these clear and detailed, official-looking photos of the sneaker. The uppers of this sneaker appear to be relatively monochrome and plain, dressed up in a combination of both dark and light grey. The upper ankles also have “RIO” embroidered on them, which signifies that this sneaker is a part of the 2016 City Pack. This sneaker even draws inspiration from the flag of Brazil since the same blue, green and yellow hues also appear alternatively on the outsoles.
This is the second international rendition from the 2016 Air Jordan 10 City Pack to have been unveiled in recent times. Better yet, it is even being reported and is somewhat confirmed that the Air Jordan 10 “Rio” will be making its retail debut on May 7th at a price of $190.
