As 2014 quickly approaches its end, 23isBack readers have already witnessed the retail debut of ten different Air Jordan VI pairs. Some crazy colorways have hit the shelves in both full and GS sizes, and Jordan Brand has continued to tease the Air Jordan 6 “Slam Dunk.” Along with the fact that the inspiration for this sneaker obviously comes from the “Slam Dunk” anime, one of the upcoming 2014 Jordan release dates have also been confirmed for this new jordans.

For 23 is Back readers who cannot recall what this very first anime-inspired Jordan Brand sneaker looks like, the leather upper has been dressed up in beautiful red. The upper is topped with 3M detailing that takes its inspiration from Hanamichi Sakuragi, the main character of the Slam Dunk anime series. The matching icy blue heel tag, sole and tongue bring and the white midsole add the finishing touches. However, this news is not just about the Air Jordan VI “Slam Dunk” itself.

slam-dunk-jordans-6sConsidering that this “Slam Dunk” colorway of the Air Jordan VI is such a special pair, it is only fitting that it will be making its retail debut in special packaging. The packaging is probably nothing like the packaging that previous Air Jordan sneakers have been released in, perhaps also because the packaging is in black and white. It must be kept in mind that the “#10” on this sneaker is not a reference to the silhouette, but is rather the number on Hanamichi Sakuragi’s jersey in the anime series.

The box tag also displays the official “Slam Dunk” name of this colorway. 23isBack readers may have probably not seen or purchased a sneaker like this before. Perhaps the special packaging of the Air Jordan VI Retro x Slam Dunk will make them more eager to add November 1 amongst the other Jordan release dates 2014 they are anticipating.

  1. I have the Slam Dunk 6 sitting next to me. The sticker in the shoe says “NON-Leather”, for upper, outer and lower. The shoe feels like no other 6 I have ever had or do have. It does not feel like leather at all but more like some kind of puff material, which I am guessing is that the whole shoe is wrapped in 3m and not just the print being 3m.

The best thing about this shoe is NO ankle creasing or toe box creasing like you get on leather 6’s. You can literally bend the entire ankle support over and no signs of a crease at all, not even when walking in it do you see a toe box crease. The material is perfect.

Something else you do not notice in photos is that the white on the mid sole has a strange texture to it and it also has silver 3m speckles all over the white.

I have been collecting 6’s since 1991 and this is by far the nicest 6 I have ever touched. The material is excellent and the shoe is magic. The photos do not at all do this shoe justice. It is probably the first jordan 6 that I have seen where my expectations were so high for this shoe and then when getting the shoe in my hands that the product was ten times my expectations. It really is a fantastic shoe. I love that it does not crease like the usual leather 6.

Way to go Jordan Brand with this shoe!. Everything about it is perfect except for being able to see the messy joins under the toe cap.
