Jordan Brand has confirmed that they will unveiling 2014’s Nike x Doernbecher Freestyle collection in November. Considering the history and significance behind the Air Jordan “Doernbecher” models, it is only natural that 23isBack readers are excited and hyped about this year’s collection. Even though exact upcoming November 2014 Jordan release dates have yet to be announced, a few images related to the collection have already leaked, providing an earlier than expected glimpse.
Since 2007, Nike has been inviting a group of young patients from Portland’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital to design a selection of Air Jordan sneakers that make it to Doernbecher Freestyle collection. At the same time, the children get a creative outlet to distract and divert their young minds. Moreover, an Air Jordan Retro has always been a part of the collection, and earlier on there had been speculation that the Air Jordan 11 would be 2014’s Retro Doernbecher release. However, apparently that speculation is not true.
The images that have leaked reveal that the Air Jordan 8 is the Retro model that will be arriving in a “Blue-Orange-Black” Doernbecher colorway. In the images, the box has a sticker label on the outside, the box top has a branded label under it, and the outsole of the anticipated sneaker is also visible, which makes it apparent that it is an Air Jordan 8 new jordans. The upper of the sneaker is dressed in blue with orange and black accents and icy blue translucent outsoles that have a flaming basketball graphic on them. The word “brave” is also featured on the heel.
There is definitely no doubt that the Nike x Doernbecher Freestyle collection for 2014 will be unveiled in the coming next week. However, there is not enough evidence to suggest whether or not the images that have been leaked are actually official. Although no November 2014 Jordan release dates have been confirmed, 23isBack readers will ultimately find out on November 7.
