Thus far, based on 23isback release dates, it has been a big year for Jordan 2 Retro. Several different modern colors of the Air Jordan II were introduced by Jordan Brand in earlier in 2014 that have added new life to the classic AJ 2 silhouette. Most noteworthy of them were the Infrared 23 colorway and the Nightshade colorway. Based on the Jordan release dates 2014 that were posted, the latest “Iron Purple” colorway of the Air Jordan hit the shelves on May 24th.
In recent memory, it has seemed that Jordan Brand has been more than enthusiastic in decking out more and more new color combinations of Jordan 2 . The approach is actually quite sensible considering the fact that the second Michael Jordan sneaker has only been released in a limited number of original colorways. Of course, this particular “Iron Purple” colorway is not an original, and as can be seen, it borrows quite a few elements from previous releases.
Much like nightshade colorway of Jordan 2 that was released just a week before this color combo, the “Iron Purple” colorway also gives the classic Jordan 2 silhouette a modern twist. Back when this pair did not have a release date, Rip Hamilton of the Chicago Bulls was lucky enough to be able to pick up a pair of this “Iron Purple” Air Jordan colorway before these kicks even got released. He had even posted pictures of his pair on his Instagram for the entire sneaker world to get a glimpse at it.
Jordan II Retro “Iron Purple” actually sports two shades of purple, namely Dark Concord and Iron Purple. A unique blend of materials is featured on the upper, including leather and Nubuck. An Infrared Jordan 23 logo with purple accents can be seen on the tongues, which are in black just like the heelstay. Both the purple laces and midsoles are speckled with Infrared as well. The collar and the toe overlay both also featured an embossed tonal safari-like pattern. Finally, a pure white outsole adds the finishing touch to this eye-catching color combo.
23 is Back would also like to confirm that the Air Jordan II “Iron Purple” are now avaialble for $150, considering that they got released just six days ago on May 24th. Even though purple is the dominant color, this colorway seems to be somewhat grey-based as well, especially considering the cement or safari-like pattern that has grey accents. Moreover, the fact that the upper is made of nubuck with panels made of full grain leather and the fact that the safari-like pattern is embossed, the upper also sports an interesting blend of textures too.
The bottom line is that Jordan 2 “Iron Purple” was the second colorway of Jordan 2 to be released this month. However, it is very likely that this is not the last time this year that Jordan Brand will introduce yet another new Jordan 2 colorway. Until then, the Jordan release dates 2015 will continued to be updated and readers will be informed if another colorway of Jordan 2 and other famous Jordan sneakers is expected to be released any time soon.
