By now, it is likely obvious that LeBron James, who is the 2016 NBA champion and unanimous Finals MVP, has plenty of fans and many of them also happen to be fans of the Looney Tunes. Over a span of three generations, the animated series remains as popular as it was back in the 1930s. For this very reason, those very fans have long been waiting for Space Jam 2 to be produced. However, this does not mean the original film from 20 years ago that Michael Jordan had starred in has been forgotten. Jordan Brand is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the release of the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam.”
Originally, the concept and idea for the first Space Jam film came from Nike’s “Hare Jordan” advertisements that had starred Michael Jordan with Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny. There was also a Super Bowl advertisement in which Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan joined forces to defeat Marvin the Martian and his stooges in basketball and bowling. It was based on this advertisement that the idea for a similar feature-length film was pitched to Warner Bros. The film proved to be equally valuable for Michael Jordan’s camp and Warner Bros.’ Looney Tunes franchise, so much so that a very special Air Jordan 11 colorway was featured in the film.
There are many who pay as much attention to an Air Jordan’s packaging as the sneaker itself and they will not be disappointed with the packaging this year’s Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” will arrive in. Considering that the release of the sneaker marks the celebration of Space Jam’s 20th anniversary, so its packaging sports Bugs Bunny graphics and illustrations. The Looney Tunes copyright mark can also be spotted, which suggests that this sneaker is being released in partnership with Warner Bros. Since it is among Holiday 2016’s Air Jordan releases, the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam,” which will be contained in this packaging, does not hit the shelves until December 17th.
