Rumors that Jordan Brand was once again working on an Air Jordan “City Pack” had begun spreading back in August 2015. The New York City-inspired and -themed Air Jordan 10 was the first sneaker from the pack to be seen since it was briefly previewed earlier in January this year. In the same month, the Air Jordan 10 “NYC” was fully showcased in detail and many Jordanheads realized that it looks quite similar to the OVO x Air Jordan 10 “Black. The “NYC” iteration from the 2016 City Pack is indeed arriving this month, but not on the same date that had been initially confirmed.
During the first week of February, Instagram user @realchickenwop shared another new photo of the Air Jordan 10 “NYC” and revealed the exact number of pairs Jordan Brand have created. The photo @realchickenwop had posted actually had a simple caption beneath it, which was “5000 pairs.” As disappointing as it may seem, Jordanheads likely know by now this Air Jordan 10 iteration will be hitting shelves exclusively in New York, so the limited number of pairs somewhat makes sense. However, all the avid collectors in New York City can be expected to line up in order to cop a pair.
As can be seen, the primary reason the Air Jordan 10 “NYC” resembles the OVO x Air Jordan 10 “Black” is because it is also an all-black sneaker. In other words, the Jordan branding, leather uppers, midsoles and even its translucent outsoles are all dressed up in ominous black. The feature that distinguishes it from the OVO x Air Jordan 10 “Black” is the gold colored “NYC” logo that is stitched on the ankles, while gold accents heel pull tabs, Jordan Jumpman branding on the outsoles and the sparkles.
Originally, the retail debut of the Air Jordan 10 “NYC” was scheduled for April 23rd, but now it will hit the shelves on April 28th. Moreover, this sneaker will also exclusively retail at a price of $190 at select New York-based Jordan Brand stores on April 16th as well.
