As of lately, Jordan Brand has been paying a lot of attention to major sneaker releases, such as the Fragment Design x Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan Melo M11 “Gold Standard.” However, before the year actually came to an end, Jordan Brand has unveiled another possibly major release for the classic Air Jordan 1 silhouette that will probably delight many 23isBack readers. Many had been anticipating that the Air Jordan 1 High Strap to make a comeback on one of the Jordan release dates 2015, but the sneaker has hit the shelves earlier than expected.
Back in November, it was being speculated that the Air Jordan 1 featuring straps would be making a comeback along with the OG low top in 2015. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High Strap made its retail debut back in 2008. Two colorways of the Jordan 1 Retro High Strap were believed to be returning in 2015 for the 30th Anniversary of Jordan Brand.
A leather and nylon upper was featured by both pairs, with ankle straps that can be removed. Although there is no news of the classic black and red colorway, the other one is already up for grabs. This colorway appears to be reminiscent of the Nike Vandal and sports the UNC-shade of blue, which has been making frequent appearances this year. French Blue also makes a dominant presence on the upper; hence the colorway has been dubbed after it. Instead of OG branding, the back heel, insoles and tongue tags bear the Jordan Jumpan logos and there is also the Jordan Wings logo on the strap buckles.
Apparently Jordan Brand decided to drop these new jordans this year rather than in 2015. Earlier this week, reports had been circulating that European retailers were already selling the pair, and 23isBack readers may have copped it already. As for Jordanheads in the U.S., rather than wait for one of the Jordan release dates 2015, they too can grab this Air Jordan 1 Retro High Strap “French Blue” from select Jordan Brand retailers like Oneness.
