The Air Jordan 1 High “Black Toe” Is Making Yet Another Retro Comeback

Ranking the top Air Jordan sneakers of all time is a tricky task if not impossible, but there is no doubt that the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Black Toe” is one of them. In the middle of the ’80s on a late afternoon, back when Michael Jordan Brand was a young rookie embarking upon his professional basketball career, he had his first photo shoot after signing up with Nike. A photo taken during that shoot is where Jordan Brand got its “Jumpman” logo from. Michael Jordan was rocking the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” in the photo, which could potentially be among 2016’s Jordan release dates.

Air Jordan 1 High OG “Black Toe” -2The iconic aforementioned photo depicts Michael Jordan soaring in the air to make a dunk with the Chicago skyline in the background. By the time this photo had been taken, the Air Jordan 1 had already racked up its fair share of controversy and fame ever since its initial debut in 1985. However, it took two years for Michael Jordan’s infamous pose to be transformed into Jordan Brand’s “Jumpman” branding when it made its appearance on the Air Jordan 3 that had been released that year. This is why the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” is so coveted and this year, it gets a retro makeover again.

It was back in 2013 when the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” had made an appearance on retail shelves, also as a retro. Hence, its uppers will once again be made up of plain White leather, while covered in Black- and Varsity Red-colored overlays, which is the reason this colorway sports a Chicago Bulls look. In particular though, this sneaker gets its nickname from the Black-colored overlays surrounding its toeboxes. Of course, this year’s version will accurately resemble the 1985 OG, so Nike Air branding is featured on the tongue.

Air Jordan 1 High OG “Black Toe” -3Although this much is somewhat certain that this sneaker will likely be among 2016’s Air Jordan releases, a date for its arrival has not yet been officially confirmed. So, keep checking back in order to find out when the returning Air Jordan 1 High OG “Black Toe” will hit the shelves.
