The Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” is returning to join this year’s Air Jordan releases 2019, but this time as a women’s exclusive in satin form. The “Black Toe” is one of the most popular colorways of the Air Jordan 1. Much like the “Banned / Bred” colorway, which is also making a comeback this year, it was also originally released back in 1985. In the past two decades, the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” has returned twice before, just three years apart, once back in May 2013 and later in November 2016. However, this is the first time it has received the satin treatment.
The Air Jordan 1 Satin is a limited-edition variation of Jordan Brand’s iconic, first signature sneaker model. It first debuted at a pop-up shop that Jordan Brand had opened at 108 Wooster Street for the re-release of the Air Jordan 1 “Banned / Bred.” The Air Jordan 1 Satin was also released in the same colorway, but only 501 pairs had been available. A year later, Aleali May teamed up with Jordan Brand and designed an Air Jordan 1 Satin/Corduroy sporting the “Shadow” colorway. Most recently, the Air Jordan 1 Satin hit the shelves last year in the “Shattered Backboard” colorway on May 5th, 2018.
Since the Air Jordan 1 Satin “Black Toe” will be among the Air Jordan releases 2019 arriving three months later, it makes sense that these current photos merely offer a preview of the sneaker. Regardless, apart from its construction, it will still resemble the original, as you can somewhat see. It appears that its uppers are made up of leather and satin, so it may actually end up looking quite luxurious. Perhaps the most unique feature that this iteration will come equipped with is its “Air Jordan Wings” logo on the ankle collars, which is apparently in the form of a metallic badge.
