The Rio 2016 Summer Olympics are long over now. Not many people are able to experience the opportunity to participate in the Olympics. This is something that became quite apparent to two particular members of the Toronto Raptors who received this opportunity and they worked quite hard to make the most of it. During the preliminary round, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry helped Team USA score a 5-0 record. Overall, the Toronto Raptors were quite fortunate to have been represented in the Olympics as a part of the U.S. by two of their star athletes. Even Jordan Brand drew inspiration from the team for this Air Jordan 5.
The Air Jordan 5 “Raptors,” which is a GS-exclusive colorway, has not arrived at retailers just yet. However, for some reason it has not been receiving the attention that it deserves. One of the reasons behind this could be the fact that this colorway was unveiled not too long ago and it will make its retail debut this coming week. Another reason is probably because it is exclusively GS-sized. Considering how dope this iteration looks, it should actually be receiving even more attention, even by sneakerheads who will not really be able to fit on a pair.
The synthetic uppers of this Air Jordan 5 GS rendition are dressed up in a color scheme that includes the old school hues of the Toronto Raptors. Predominantly, the uppers have a Black-colored base, while the Raptors-theme is highlighted by the Red- and Purple-colored accents that make an appearance over the branding, inner linings and the sole units. Even though Jordan Brand has not really stated that this colorway has actually been inspired by the Toronto Raptors, the presence of these hues cannot be a mere coincidence. No wonder it has been unofficially dubbed “Raptors.”
Even if it has not been inspired by the Toronto Raptors, it should not really take away from the appeal of this sneaker, especially for small-footed sneakerheads. However, they will have to wait for a couple of more days since the official release date of this Air Jordan 5 GS “Raptors” has been confirmed to be September 17th.
