If you happen to be a basketball enthusiast, you have likely heard of SLAM magazine, even if you have not actually ever read it. The basketball magazine has been in circulation since back in 1994. Back in 2014, SLAM collaborated with Foot Locker to put together a collectors issue revolving around the Air Jordan 1 to the Air Jordan 6, which was dubbed “JORDANS Vol. 1.” The tagline of the issue was, “Step Inside The Greatest Line Of All Time.” Ever since, SLAM has published two more special JORDANS volumes. Recently, JORDANS Vol. 4 was also published and it was entirely dedicated to the Air Jordan 1.
An Overview Of The JORDANS Vol. 1 From 2014
The highlight of the magazine was a lengthy photo essay that featured classic, original photos of the Air Jordan 1 to the Air Jordan 6. In this special issue, Michael Jordan also named his favorite out of the first six Air Jordan models. Other highlights of this issue included featured pieces with Nate Robinson, Peter Moore, Spike Lee, and the man who designed the Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 4 and Air Jordan 6, Tinker Hatfield. According to Ben Osborne, SLAM’s Editor-in-Chief, the resulting JORDANS Vol. 1 felt “30 years in the making.” Indeed, for readers interested in basketball and/or sneakers, looking through this issue was quite enjoyable.
Here’s What You’ll Find Inside JORDANS Vol. 4
As you can see at the very top, the cover of the latest JORDANS Vol. 4 reads “SPECIAL COLLECTOR’S ISSUE 100% AJ1.” The tagline of this special issue is “THE SNEAKER THAT CHANGED THE WORLD.” Also appearing on the cover are the Air Jordan 1 “Banned/Bred” and “Chicago.” Like the very first issue, this one also includes classic photos of the Air Jordan 1 and a young Michael Jordan laced up in some of the most iconic colorways of the model. JORDANS Vol. 4 is currently available on SLAMonline.com at a price of $11.99.
