Sneakerheads likely recall that Kawhi Leonard was laced up in a PE “Gold” iteration of the Air Jordan 11 off the court on Christmas Day. It turns out that Michael Finley, one of the former shooting guards and small forwards of the Phoenix Suns, also received a similar-looking yet different exclusive Air Jordan 11 pair that is covered in Gold. Considering these two Metallic Gold-covered renditions of the Air Jordan 11 that Jordan Brand has whipped up, perhaps a colorway like this may even arrive at retailers in the near future. Of course, Michael Finley’s pair will not be the one since the singular pair was created only for him.
Even though Michael Finley has retired from the NBA, he will always remain a Jordan Brand athlete. Thus, Jordan Brand crafted this special Air Jordan 11 pair so that Michael could lace up in it while attending the Cotton Bowl. The 2017 Cotton Bowl pit the Wisconsin Badgers against the Western Michigan Broncos and took place on January 2nd at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Badgers and the Broncos faced each other in the Cotton Bowl for the fourth time and the Badgers had won three of those, losing only once. The Wisconsin Badgers also ended up winning this year’s Cotton Bowl with a 25-16 score.
Of course, Michael Finley was in attendance at the 2017 Cotton Bowl and he was laced up in his special Air Jordan 11 PE “Gold” pair. Judging from the on-foot photos of the sneaker that have been circulating online, this lustrous sneaker appears to be dressed up almost entirely in Metallic Gold. Even its midsoles are covered in a shade of Gold. The only exception to this is its outsoles, which are Red-colored and translucent, adding an odd contrast to this eye-catching pair.
It would likely be hard to pick a favorite between this sneaker and Kawhi Leonard’s Air Jordan 11 PE “Gold” pair. Regardless, neither of these sneakers will be hitting the shelves, but perhaps Jordan Brand may drop some variation at some point in the future.
