Sneakerheads reading this might be familiar with Martin Figueroa-Ramirez, a sneaker customizer who goes by the name ROM. In addition to having designed a number of custom variations of the Nike Dunk High and Low, he drew inspiration from the UNDFTD x Air Jordan IV for the custom Dunk High “UNDRDG” that he whipped up back in 2012. Later that year, a never-before-seen, one-of-one sample of the UNDFTD x Air Jordan 4 popped up, which was made up of a ballistic material. Six years later, another UNDEFEATED x Air Jordan 4 sample has surfaced, which likely will not be joining upcoming Jordan releases 2018.
It was back in July 2005 when Jordan Brand and UNDEFEATED (UNDFTD) to whip up the special collaborative iteration of the Air Jordan 4. The sneaker had suede uppers, dressed up predominantly in an Olive Green hue. It was also equipped with all-White midsoles and featured Black-colored detailing throughout, while a contrasting Orange hue appeared over the inner lining, laces and the “Jumpman” branding on the tongues. The inside of each tongue featured an upside down “UNDEFEATED,” while the removable Velcro patch on the outside had “Jordan Rare Air” beneath it. The UNDEFEATED x Air Jordan 4 was eventually released, but merely 72 pairs had been available.
2005’s UNDFTD x Air Jordan 4 is regarded as one of the best and finest collaborative releases from Jordan Brand. The original colorway was military-themed, inspired by a flight jacket. Judging from these photos shared by hypeBEAST (@sneakerslut23) on Instagram, this never-before-seen sample appears similar, the only visible exception being that it its suede uppers are dressed up in a different shade of Olive Green. Despite the different shade, this sample still features the same Black- and Orange-colored accents, with White appearing over the midsoles. Considering that the Eminem x Air Jordan 4 “Encore” will soon be re-released for charity, Jordan Brand might take a similar route with this sample.
