Some very memorable sneaker-related events have taken place this year, or rather this very month. Jordan Brand and Public School NYC collaborated once again to release two sneakers and a bunch of apparel. This year’s Holiday Jordan release of the Air Jordan 11 was inspired by the Bulls’ ’95-’96 season. Furthermore, the Air Jordan 8 “Chrome” is also making its comeback in a few days. However, now some enthusiastic Jordanheads are speculating that the Air Jordan Jumpman Team II might actually hit the shelves in 2015 instead of next year, and it might just be December’s best Jordan release.
Even though the Jordan Jumpman Team II is not an official legacy model, sneaker collectors over the years have regarded it as one of the best sneakers from Jordan Brand since it brings the best of two models. By 1998, Michael Jordan was already planning to retire from the sport of basketball for the second time, while Jordan Brand was busy whipping up hybrid silhouettes inspired by their already existing models. The Jumpman Team II was once such silhouette that was introduced that very year. A catalog image that showcased this particular colorway of the Jumpman Team II and now its return is more than imminent, but whether it will be this year or the next is not yet confirmed.
The two iconic models that the Jumpman Team II happens to be a mash up of are the Air Jordan 13 and the Air Jordan 14. As avid Jordanheads will recognize, the Jumpman Team II is in a mid-top form similar to that of the Air Jordan 13, including the cat paw sole and dimpled leather paneling, while the holographic Jumpman logo jewel has been borrowed from the Air Jordan 14. This particular colorway of the sneaker is dressed up in a black, red and white color scheme. While a Jordan release 2016 is more likely for this Air Jordan Jumpman Team II colorway, select retailers in Asia are already have the sneaker, so it might even hit the shelves in the U.S. too before 2015 ends.
