During the 2014 U.S. Open, 23 is Back readers should have been keeping their eyes on the tennis shoes Roger Federer was wearing as he went head to head with Marinko Matosevic, scoring a straight-set victory. Along with Roger’s first match of this year’s U.S. Open, it also marked the debut of the Nike Zoom Vapor 9 Tour Air Jordan 3, Roger’s new tennis shoe. Jordan heads will most likely recognized quite a few of the elements of the kicks and if they have been looking to make another addition to their list of 2014 Jordan release dates, they can include August 26.
As its name suggests, this latest tennis shoe model by Roger Federer has obviously been inspired from the Air Jordan 3, which had made its debut back in 1988. Back in 1988, Roger Federer happened to be a seven-year old fan of basketball and the Air Jordan 3 has been his favorite model from Jordan Brand ever since.
Roger’s previous signature tennis shoe models had been designed by Tinker Hatfield, the illustrious Nike designer behind the Air Jordan 3, and this time, he worked on the Zoom Vapor 9 Tour Air Jordan 3. Michael Jordan himself collaborated with Roger Federer to bring this latest tennis shoe to life. The fact that Roger Federer had been interested to wear an Air Jordan-inspired shoe on the tennis court for quite some time now had piqued Michael Jordan’s interest.
Michael Jordan refers to himself as a “big fan” of Roger Federer and from the very beginning, MJ was certain that this collaboration would turn out to be quite special and unique, and indeed it is. The shoe that was designed as a result of this collaboration features a tumbled white leather upper, elephant print along the heel and toebox, O.G. “Nike Air” on the heel, and red eyelets. The tongue sports the Jumpan branding and the midsole display the “RF” logo.
Michael Jordan actually attended Roger Federer’s match, something the basketball legend has not done before, and even posed with the tennis star for a selfie. 23 is Back readers should definitely mark August 26 among the rest of the Jordan release dates 2014 on their calendars, since a limited number of the Nike Zoom Vapor 9 Tour Air Jordan 3 will be released then Flight 23 on that day.
