Sneakerheads already know that the Air Jordan 4 “Motorsports” will finally make its retail debut this year among Jordan Brand’s other Air Jordan releases 2017. Just recently though, photos of a likely brand new, never-before-seen colorway of the Air Jordan 4 surfaced online. The Air Jordan 4 debuted in 1989 and Michael Jordan was wearing it on the court when he made “The Shot” in order to cement a victory for the Chicago Bulls. That critical shot ensured that the Bulls remained in the season. The photos seen here suggest that Jordan Brand will end up dropping this Air Jordan 4 colorway in the near future.
The character Mookie from Spike Lee’s 1989 comedy-drama film “Do The Right Thing” had also been laced up in the sneaker in the film. At the time of its debut, that Air Jordan 4 had been equipped with increased ankles, forefoot support and full-length midsoles. Large-sized “Nike Air” branding was also featured on the model’s air cushioned heels. As sneakerheads are likely aware, the “Nike Air” branding was absent from the retro releases of the silhouette, having been replaced with Jordan Brand’s “Jumpman” logo. Thankfully, Jordan Brand has brought back the “Nike Air” branding in recent times, although this upcoming iteration does not seem to be featuring it.
The fact that Jordan Brand may end up dropping this Air Jordan 4 colorway at some point in 2017 is likely good news for fans of the model. These very first photos of the sneaker were shared on Instagram by the user @spicychickenwings. As can be seen, the sneaker’s leather uppers are predominantly dressed up in Black. However, contrasting touches of Grey can be spotted over the inner linings, honeycomb lace eyelets and portions of the soles, while the branding and the insides of its tongues also feature Royal Blue-colored detailing. Adding a final premium feel to this sneaker, its heel tabs and the Jordan “Wings” logo on the sides are made up of leather.
Jordan Brand has made no mentions about this sneaker yet, so it should be obvious that an exact release date has not been revealed. However, Twitter user @ DJFolk claims that this brand new Air Jordan 4 colorway will be joining May’s Jordan releases 2017.
