No doubt, signature sneakers worn by NBA athletes do tend to arrive on retail shelves, but this does not happen very often. In fact, in most cases the Jordan release of an Air Jordan PE sneaker is very rare these days, and the same is the case with Nike too. For instance, this regular season LeBron James is expected to sport 40 or so PE kicks, but none of them will be up for grabs. However, Jordanheads do have NIKEiD, where they can attempt to mimic PE colorways, and now they customize CP3.9 as a part of a competition so that Chris Paul may lace up in the winning custom for one of the upcoming games.
Back in January of this year, DeMar DeRozan returned to the Toronto Raptors lineup and since the Raptors were scheduled to wear their 20th Anniversary uniforms, he decided to something special. 5 games remained in which the Raptors would sport the purple uniforms, so DeMar headed over to NIKEiD and picked five 5 custom fan-made colorways, such as a Nike Kobe 9 EM that was covered in purple speckles. Now, apparently Chris Paul is also crowd-sourcing a CP3.9 pair as a part of a competition taking place on NIKEiD and he will wear the custom pair during one of this season’s games.
This “CP3.IX iD Challenge” has officially begun and will run until October 31st, 2015 when this month comes to an end. The winning custom CP3.9 colorway will be picked and announced on November 14th. As mentioned, the pair that Chris Paul thinks is the best will be worn by him one of this season’s game, while the winner will also a pair of the winning sneaker. If Jordanheads want to take a break from keeping an eye on every Jordan release dates, perhaps they can partake in this competition and end up with a one of two CP3.9 colorway that Chris Paul himself will also sport.
