Amidst all the Air Jordan releases 2018, it is somewhat rare to see a LeBron 15 pair drawing inspiration from Jordan Brand’s signature line. Earlier this month, Nike launched the #LeBronWatch campaign. As a part of it, LeBron James appeared on the court laced up in special LeBron 15 colorways drawing inspiration from Nike’s illustrious history. These included colorways inspired by the Air Diamond Turf Air Max 95 “Neon,” Air Mowabb, Ken Griffey Jr., and even a Nike shoe box from 1972. Unexpectedly though, LeBron James was recently spotted rocking a LeBron 15 iteration that features the color scheme and detailing of a highly coveted Air Jordan 5 colorway.
This LeBron 15 Seems To Be Inspired By The Air Jordan 5 “Metallic”
The Air Jordan 5 “Black/Metallic Silver,” or simply “Metallic Silver,” happens to be one of the most popular and revered original colorways of the model from back in the ‘90s. In fact, it was only two years ago that it was brought back in OG form, complete with the “Nike Air” branding on the heels. The Air Jordan 5 OG ‘90 “Black/Metallic Silver” made its comeback on July 23rd, 2018 and retailed at a price of $220. In addition to the “Nike Air” logo, the highlights of the colorway include its Black, Metallic Silver and Fire Red color scheme, and the speckled shark-tooth pattern on its midsoles.
This LeBron 15 Iteration Will Probably Not Hit The Shelves
First and foremost, the LeBron 15 that King James is laced up in is apparently a 1-of-1, exclusive pair. As you can see, its Battleknit uppers are almost entirely covered in Black. Red and White can also be spotted, but it is hard to tell if Metallic Silver also makes an appearance. This iteration does unmistakably feature the speckled shark tooth pattern borrowed from the Air Jordan 5 “Metallic Silver.” It helps that that LeBron James has the same jersey number that Michael Jordan once did. Hence, the font of the “23” appearing on the side of this LeBron 15 pair resembles that of the Air Jordan 5’s “23.”
