It should be obvious to Jordanheads by now that Jordan Brand apparently intends to do big things with the Air Jordan 5 in 2016. Much like all the new and old Air Jordan 6 colorways that hit the shelves this year, Jordan Brand is apparently planning to do something similar with the Air Jordan 5 model next year. With four to five different iterations already on their way, Jordan Brand adds another Jordan releases to the mix with this new colorway of the Air Jordan 5 Low that is dubbed “China.”
While the colorway’s nickname may not make it obvious enough, this upcoming Air Jordan 5 iteration draws inspiration from the Chinese zodiac. According to the Chinese calendar, next year will actually be the Year of the Monkey, which has apparently inspired this new Air Jordan 5 Low rendition. The monkey is the ninth animal out of the twelve that make up the Chinese zodiac and the Year of the Monkey arrives again after 12 years. While news related to the upcoming release of this sneaker had begun circulating not so long ago, now the website MySole.net has even posted new photos of it.
While the upper of the Air Jordan 5 Low “China” appears to be predominantly dressed up in ominous black, this is not really the highlight of this sneaker. In fact, this is one of the most artistic sneakers to have been released by Jordan Brand in recent times. A Chinese-inspired artistic graphic is featured on the rear end and the tongue of this sneaker, sporting multiple vibrant hues and a Jordan Jumpman as well. Hits of Bright Crimson can also be spotted on the Air Unit, eyelets, lace lock and the shark teeth present on the midsole. While a Jordan release 2016 is likely for this sneaker, which is also being referred to as the Air Jordan 5 Low QS China “猴年,” but Jordan Brand has not announced exactly when.
