Earlier this month, Jordan Brand (@jumpman23) posted a mysterious yet rather intriguing photo on Instagram. Accompanying the photo was the caption “Locked down. #PrepareToFly 09.20.18.” The immediate general consensus within the online community was that the caption refers to the date on which Jordan Brand will introduce and unveil its next signature sneaker model, the Air Jordan 33. Soon after, a number of leaked photos began circulating online, rumored to be showcasing the Air Jordan 33, but apparently that is not the case. On the contrary, the never-before-seen sneaker model previewed in the photo above is more likely the Air Jordan 33, which will be confirmed on September 20th.
In case you have not read the earlier post about the above photo and are wondering what exactly you are looking at, it is actually an elastic band with a “PULL” tab. Also attached to it is a ribbon-like tag on the left, which has “PULL TO LOCKDOWN” printed over it, and string on the left, which is typically seen on flight jackets. In the second photo above, you can see the unknown sneaker model that was being hinted as Air Jordan 33, which it might not actually be. Rather, it is either a bootleg sneaker or some other model that Jordan Brand will introduce in the near future.
The reason that the singular shoe you see in the photo at the top is more likely the Air Jordan 33 is because it actually resembles the Air Jordan 3, which makes sense considering its predecessors. The Air Jordan 31 drew inspiration from the Air Jordan 1 and the Air Jordan 32 from the Air Jordan 2. The shoe in the photo appears to have Flyknit uppers, with the Air Jordan 3’s elephant print appearing over its heels, mudguards and toes, and it is equipped with metallic eyelets.
