Snakeskin tends to have a naturally beautiful grain pattern and elegance, which can make footwear appear like a refined piece of art. Just about any shoe design may appear dazzling due to the complex details that snakeskin features. Of course, the use of genuine snakeskin is inhumane. Fortunately, these same characteristics also extend towards faux snakeskin, and the visible difference between the genuine and the synthetic material is barely noticeable. The great thing is that Jordan Brand does not use genuine snakeskin. However, they have dropped numerous premium sneakers with faux snakeskin uppers, such as this upcoming iteration of Russell Westbrook’s second signature model, the Westbrook 0.2.
It is obvious that faux snakeskin is a synthetic material rather than the actual skin of snakes, which probably makes sneakerheads wonder what it is actually made from. Either genuine or synthetic leather is used to create the look of faux snakeskin by stamping snakeskin pattern or prints onto the hide. If the synthetic leather (PU) used is of low quality, it will have a fabric backing. Genuine, real leather will have a suede-like backing and the snakeskin pattern or print is embossed or stamped onto it. Faux snakeskin made from leather also tends to be more breathable, so the wearer’s feet stay dry.
The fact that both of Russell Westbrook’s signature sneaker models from Jordan Brand have been lifestyle ones, so it is not astonishing that its latest rendition is covered in faux snakeskin. This latest iteration of the Westbrook 0.2 looks quite exquisite than ever before, not only because its multi-paneled uppers are made up of faux snakeskin, but also because they are dressed up in a tonal Burgundy hue. Its suede uppers are apparently inspired by the Air Jordan 7 and the snakeskin texture has been embossed onto them. It is also equipped with matching leather laces, while its outsoles borrowed from the Nike Vandal are plain White.
This latest iteration of Russell Westbrook’s second signature model has not yet arrived at Nike.com but it will reportedly be available there soon. However, sneakerheads can grab a pair of this Jordan Westbrook 0.2 “Maroon Snakeskin” by visiting select Jordan Brand retail stores, such as Sneaker Politics.
