Before Kevin Durant officially joined the Golden State Warriors recently, he wanted to meet in person with Stephen Curry, who is currently the point guard of the team. He wanted to be certain and sure that this year’s unanimous MVP was alright with and in favor of having KD as a member of the team, especially considering that Stephen has become the face of the team. This Thursday on July 7th, Kevin Durant gave an introductory press conference and the very next day on July 8th, he also made his official Warriors debut laced up in an unexpected sneaker.
According to Kevin Durant, he wanted to ask Stephen Curry in person about how the MVP felt about having KD “joining his team.” The Golden State Warriors already has three All-Stars as a part of their roster, all of whom are between the ages of 26 and 28. Therefore, to many it was not making sense for a top-3 NBA athlete like KD to join the team. Moreover, the inclusion of KD would make it almost impossible for Stephen to ever average 30 points or become MVP again. Yet, Stephen Curry was glad about the prospective of playing alongside KD and welcomed him into the team.
After joining the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant was officially introduced as a member of the team to the media on July 8th during a formal press conference. During the press conference, he was clad in a royal blue, California golden yellow and white jersey bearing the number “35.” Kevin even paid a visit to the Warriors’ practice facility to shoot some hoops but surprisingly, he was not laced up in a KD 9 pair. Instead, KD was sporting the Premium “Black” rendition of the Air Jordan 4 featuring pony hair that Jordan Brand had dropped earlier this year. No doubt, the sneaker had already made its retail debut quite a while ago, but it was unexpected to spot Kevin Durant rocking them.
