Less than 2 months remain until the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics officially begins and professional basketball players are already taking a pass from being a part of this year’s USA Basketball Men’s National Team. NBA athletes like Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, James Harden, Russell Westbrook and Stephen Curry had already dropped out, and more recently, LeBron James also made the official announcement that he is out. The latest athlete to join those names and decide not to partake in the 2016 Olympic Games is none other than Kawhi Leonard, who was instead recently busy unboxing the two Air Jordan 30 PE colorways he received from Jordan Brand.
While Team USA still has Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant, with Kawhi and LeBron having withdrawn their names too, they are going to need more top talent. According to Kawhi himself, deciding to pull his name out from the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics was not an easy decision. He stated that he was honored that they considered him for the team and that he hopes to represent the United States in the future by playing for Team USA perhaps in the 2017 Summer Olympics. Despite all that, he is still the star advocate of Jordan Brand, so it makes sense for him to receive two brand new PE sneakers.
It was unfortunate that the San Antonio Spurs were not able to succeed at advancing to this year’s Western Conference Finals. Kawhi Leonard, who is the small forward of the San Antonio Spurs, at least now has something to rejoice about as he will be able to add two new, exclusive Air Jordan 30 colorways to his collection. These photos that Jordan Brand posted on their official Twitter account (@jumpman23) showcases Kawhi unboxing a supposedly gold’ pack that consists of a nearly all-Black and a nearly all-White iteration of the Air Jordan 30. Of course, the sneakers are also equipped with Metallic Gold midsoles and icy, translucent outsoles.
Most important of all, even though half of 2016 is still left to go, but there is something that Jordanheads were definitely not expecting to read about. Well, rumor has it that the Air Jordan 31 could potentially be among September 2016’s Air Jordan releases, or next Air Jordan model could at least get unveiled in September of this year.
