In particular, the remastered Air Jordan has received one release after another, from OG to Pinnacle colorways and even a UNC rendition. In fact, evolving the program and taking it to another level, Jordan Brand have even kicked off their initiative to bring the OG “Nike Air” branding on sneakers like the Air Jordan 6 “Maroon.” Even the rare Air Jordan 1.5 finally made it to retailers this year. Jordan Brand has even announced that they will unveil the highly-anticipated Air Jordan 30 next month in 2016.
Thus, it would be well worth mentioning which Air Jordan sneakers of 2015 stood out the most and took the sneaker community by storm. This year, Jordan Brand hit the mark with the release of the all patent leather Air Jordan 11Lab4 “Black.” Jordanheads also welcomed the returning Air Jordan 7 “Hare” with open arms even though it has received the retro treatment a few times before.
Jordan Brand borrowing the “Vachetta Tan” aesthetic from Hender Scheme for the Air Jordan 1 Pinnacle was another big sneaker story of 2015. The Air Jordan 9 “Anthracite” also made its comeback after 20 years with Nike Air branding. Michael Jordan himself had unveiled the Air Jordan 29 Low “Gradient” during his China tour. As mentioned, it took 30 years for Jordan Brand to bring back the Air Jordan 1 in its OG high-top form.
Air Jordan 29 “Photo Reel” was also released during the All-Star Weekend of 2015around the same time that Jordan Brand was involved in a court case involving the Jumpman logo. Much like in the music scene, Drizzy’s Drake x Air Jordan X “OVO” proved to be a tough competition for Kanye’s Yeezy. Jordan Brand even commemorated Michael Jordan’s historical backboard shattering moment with an Air Jordan 1 colorway rightfully dubbed the “Shattered Backboard.”
2015 was also a bit unfortunate for Jordanheads as they never got to cop the dope and rare, limited Eminem x Carhartt x Air Jordan IV. Fortunately, the Air Jordan 6 “Maroon” was also brought back after 25 years, complete with the Nike Air logo. After a few collaborations this year, Jordan Brand and Public School NYC collaborated once again to release Air Jordan 13 and Air Jordan Horizon colorways along with branded apparel too.
2015 is almost reaching its conclusion and while it does not seem that Jordan Brand has any other major Air Jordan retro release to drop, apart from the like the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Shadow.” However, it is already apparent that 2016 is going to be another big and busy year for Jordan Brand, so stay tuned to 23isBack for the latest Air Jordan release news and updates.
