Barack Obama is a man who technically has everything since he is the president of the United States of America after all. Yet, Nike somehow managed to whip up something special to give the President when he visited the world headquarters of the corporation in Beaverton, Oregon earlier this month. It was not surprising that Nike picked the very first and the very latest model from their highly recognized signature line of sneakers as a gift to President Obama. The Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 29 are part of a pack that has been dubbed “MTM,” and astonishingly, one of the upcoming Jordan release dates 2015 has been announced for the arrival of the pack at retailers.
Earlier this month, President Barack Obama became the world’s first man to receive the “MTM” pack, consisting of never-before-seen renditions of the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 29. The pack got its name from the initials of the tree men who collaborated in order to design, namely Mark Parker (the Nike C.E.O.), Tinker Hatfiled, and Michael Jordan himself. Michael Jordan even commented on the collaboration, stating that it is a “great way” to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the franchise he helped create and popularize. Apparently, MJ enjoyed working with Mark Parker and Tinker Hatfield as they re-imagined the two Air Jordan silhouettes.
Perhaps the most unique thing about this pack is the fact that the signature materials that are typically featured on these two models have been swapped between them. The Air Jordan 1 pair that is contained in this pack is made up of Black and Gray FlyWeave material that was introduced with the Air Jordan 29. Similarly, the Air Jordan 29 pair that is a part of this pack consists of a sleek Black leather construction that the Air Jordan 1 is known for.
Apparently, Mark Parker and Tinker Hatfield had been planning to work together on such an Air Jordan project for quite some time, and they decided that Michael Jordan should join them as well. Apparently, the three of them have already begun working on another MTM project and initially there were no hints that the MTM pack gifted to the President would ever be available to the public. However, June 13th is one of the Jordan release dates 2015 that has now been confirmed for the retail debut of the MTM renditions of the Air Jordan 1 and the Air Jordan 29.
