Jordan Brand is going to kick off next year with the Jordan 2016 releases of a never-before-seen colorway of the Air Jordan 4, while the cherished fourth Air Jordan model will also arrive in an OG colorway too. While the upcoming “Alternate ’89” colorway of the Air Jordan 4 is actually one Jordan Brand’s latest creations, it looks like it could easily be mistaken for an OG colorway that made its retail debut in 1989. On the other hand, an actual OG colorway of the Air Jordan 4 is also making its comeback next year in the form of the “White Cement” iteration.
It is said that three time’s a charm and that was certainly the case back in 1988, when a third installment was added to the Air Jordan line. Back then, sneakerheads had probably been wondering if Nike and Tinker Hatfield could actually trump what they had already accomplished with the Air Jordan 3, which was a fashionable and striking sneaker for its time. However, they did succeed in taking the Air Jordan line to a whole new level with the Air Jordan 4, which is undoubtedly regarded as a culturally significant and legendary silhouette.
Next year’s “Alternate ’89” and “White Cement” are going to prove to be two very highly coveted renditions of Jordan Brand’s fourth signature model. The Air Jordan 4 “Alternate ’89,” as its nickname suggests, is indeed an alternate version of the first OG colorway of the Air Jordan 4 from 1989. This iteration consists of a tumbled leather upper dressed up in crisp white with red accents adding contrast over the eyelets, inner lining, midsole and netting. The finishing touch has been added in the form of the black Jumpman logo featured on the heel and tongue.
Apart from the “Alternate ’89” and “White Cement” iterations, the upcoming jordan releases 2016 of the Air Jordan 4 “Dunk From Above” is also scheduled for next year. However, Jordan Brand will be kicking off 2016 by dropping the Air Jordan 4 “Alternate ’89” on January 2nd and it will apparently retail at a price of $190.
