Every year, basketball enthusiasts avidly look forward to the NBA All-Star Weekend. For the third time in the history of the NBA, the All-Star Weekend will be hosted in New Orleans, Louisiana this 2016–17 season. Those who have kept track of the previous All-Star Weekends are likely aware that numerous events take place during that period. This Christmas Day, fans of basketball were provided the opportunity to vote for the NBA’s All-Star starters. Those interested can vote on NBA.com or even platforms like Google and Twitter. With the All-Star Weekend not too far away, Jordan Brand has designed a”All-Star” colorway of the Air Jordan 31.
The All-Star game is obvious one of the most favorite events of fans that takes place at the end of this period and it is almost impossible to predict what may happen during it. As a result of the voting, popular athletes manage to occupy the starting spots, and some believe that not all of them deserve those spots. Over the recent years, poor decisions have also been made by coaches when selecting All-Star reserves. Fortunately, only up 50% of the votes will be from the fans, while athletes and select media members will have their say in the other half of the voting.
Sneakerheads may not know this but the 2017 NBA All-Star Weekend was supposed to take place in Charlotte, North Carolina. This would have meant that Jordan Brand would have had a deeper connection with the events, considering that Michael Jordan owns the Charlotte Hornets franchise. Hence, the Air Jordan 31 “All-Star” is apparently inspired by Charlotte itself. Its Flyweave uppers feature a honeycomb texture and are dressed up predominantly in Black, while the ankle portions, midsoles and the Nike “Swoosh” logos are covered in iridescent accents. Even the insides of the tongues sport Hornets branding.
The 2017 NBA All-Star Weekend is scheduled to take place between February 17th and 19th, with the All-Star Game taking place on February 19th, 2017. Even though there has been no announcement or confirmation from Jordan Brand, this Air Jordan 31 “All-Star” will likely be make its retail debut among February’s Air Jordan releases 2017.
