On August 1st, hundreds of Michigan locals had arrived at downtown Ann Arbor, after the University of Michigan switched from adidas to Nike, with a 15-year-deal worth over $173.8 million. Just before the clock struck twelve, a swarm of fans began flooding into the M-Den. All of them were excited about the new athletic accessories and apparel that now feature Jordan Brand and Nike branding. Even the M-Den website temporarily went down from all the online orders that were being made. However, apart from the accessories and apparels, it seems Jordan Brand might also have an entire Air Jordan Retro Michigan Collection in the works.
On August 2nd, the new Michigan Wolverines uniforms featuring the Jordan “Jumpman” logo were officially unveiled at Detroit’s Ford Piquette Avenue Plant during a media event. Uniforms for the University of Michigan’s baseball, golf, softball and other sports teams had already been unveiled earlier that day. Jim Harbaugh, the coach of the Michigan Wolverines, was also present during the unveiling of his team’s uniforms. It must be noted that the Nike jerseys are aesthetically quite similar to the ones that had been designed by adidas. It turns out that an Air Jordan Retro Michigan Collection may also be a part of this new sponsorship deal.
The photo that can be seen above was shared by Twitter user @SportsRecruits. In the photo, a portion of a poster can be seen, which appears to be showcasing an entire Air Jordan Retro collection with all of the models dressed up in the University of Michigan’s official colors. As can be seen, all of the notable Air Jordan retro silhouettes appeared to be covered in varying combinations of Blue and Maize. It is very likely that members of the Michigan Wolverines will be sporting these featured sneakers during the upcoming season. However, it is much too early to state whether this collection will also be among 2016’s upcoming general Jordan release date as well.
