A brand new Air Jordan 7 rendition hit the shelves on March 7th and the colorway ultimately did not turn out to be what Jordanheads had been expecting it to be for quite some time. The initial belief was that the Air Jordan 7 had been dressed up in the signature colors of Marvin the Martian, the mischievous character from Looney Tunes. However, that sneaker was not paying reference to that character and another version that may hit the shelves on one of the upcoming Jordan release dates 2015 could be the actual Marvin the Martian-themed Air Jordan 7.
The official nickname of the Air Jordan 7 that was believed to have been inspired by Marvin the Martian was actually “Barcelona Nights.” The sneaker actually took inspiration from the time when Michael Jordan traveled to Barcelona, Spain to participate in the Summer Olympics as a part of “The Dream Team” back in 1992. As the nickname of the colorway suggests, it actually pays reference to Barcelona’s nighttime cityscape. Of course, while the sneaker was still dope, many Jordanheads were likely disappointed that the popular Looney Tunes character was not its source of inspiration.
Fortunately for them, photos of this new Air Jordan 7 pair have surfaced and this could be the actual “Marvin the Martian” colorway of the model. Much like the character, this sneaker has an all-Black base, primarily made up of nubuck with tonal Black leather overlays featured along its eyelets, medial, rear and toe. The midsole, outsole and tongue are also covered in an equally muted black. However, this dark pair gets a pop of color in the form of the Blue Graphite, Green, Grey and Infrared 23 that appear on the sneaker on it as accents.
Jordanheads will likely agree that this Air Jordan iteration resembles Marvin the Martian much better than the “Barcelona Nights” colorway. However, although this Air Jordan 7 colorway may arrive at retailers on one of the Jordan release dates 2015, it should be kept in mind that there is no confirm whether or not it is actually a part of JB’s Looney Tunes batch of sneakers.
