Unlike the annual Christian festival of Christmas, the date on which Easter is celebrated every year tends to vary. Coincidentally, for the first time in recent history, Easter 2018 is being celebrated on April 1st, which also happens to be April Fools’ Day. Easter is celebrated following the spring equinox, on the first Sunday after a full moon has appeared, and this year that Sunday is on the first of April. Jordan Brand already has a few Air Jordan releases 2018 lined up for Easter. However, sneakerheads might also want to keep an eye out for joke and prank announcements about kicks that don’t actually exist.
Something like this actually happened four years ago. Back on April 1st, 2014, a photo surfaced online of a Drake x Air Jordan 6 “October’s Very Own,” accompanied by information regarding its debut. 2014 marked the 23rd anniversary of the Air Jordan 6, and according to Drake, this supposed sneaker would hit the shelves on October 24th that year. It was only later that sneakerheads realized that it was April 1st and Drake was simply pulling an April Fool’s Day prank. The Air Jordan 6 shoe seen in the photo was actually photoshopped to sport a Black and Gold color scheme.
It turns out that Jordan Brand has multiple Air Jordan releases 2018 planned for Easter. One of them is the Air Jordan 11 Low “Easter” or “Emerald,” which was unveiled much earlier. The other is apparently a recently unveiled colorway of the Air Jordan 1 Mid that appears to be drawing its inspiration from the Charlotte Hornets. Thus, its leather uppers are dressed in the team colors of Michael Jordan’s NBA franchise, namely a clean White-colored base with Teal-colored overlays on top. Additionally, it also features contrasting Purple-colored detailing, while Purple and Teal also covers its dual-tone rubber outsoles.
April Fool’s Day and Easter do not arrive until a few days more. However, the Air Jordan 11 Low “Easter” / “Emerald” is scheduled to make its retail debut on March 31st, 2018 at a price of $175. Moreover, the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Hornets” has already hit the shelves at select Jordan Brand stores and should be available online too at a price of $110.
