Earlier this June, Jordan Brand had set up a pop-up shop in Salt Lake City, Utah for the limited re-release of the Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game,” celebrating the 19th anniversary of Michael Jordan’s 1997 NBA Finals game. A number of Air Jordan 12 Retro iterations for 2016 had been displayed at the pop-up shop, one of which was the “Wool” rendition that is rumored to make its retail debut in October 2016. However, it is not the only Air Jordan 12 featuring an unusual construction that is supposed to be among 2016’s Air Jordan releases. There is also an Air Jordan 12 made up of neoprene.
Neoprene is a synthetic rubber that is considered quite useful because of its various properties. These include abrasion, chemical and water resistance. It also happens to be relatively buoyant and stretchable. It is because of these very properties that wet suits are made of neoprene. This material is also known for reducing the heat that the human body loses, which means footwear built from neoprene can potentially keep a wearer’s feet comfortable and warm in colder climates. This suggests that the Air Jordan 12 “Neoprene” could potentially arrive at retailers during winter of this year.
These latest photos of the actual Air Jordan 12 “Neoprene” sneaker have been posted on Instagram by user @us11hustla. It can be visibly seen in these photos that this particular Air Jordan 12 iteration does not appear to be made up of leather. Much like the “Wool” version, this nearly all-Black one is also intended to be winter-ready. While its ominous neoprene uppers are dressed up entirely in Black, this sneaker is also equipped with completely White outsoles and also features a Red-colored Jumpman logo on the tongues.
The Air Jordan 12 “Neoprene” is indeed going to be one of Jordan Brand’s winter Air Jordan releases of 2016 because September 10th has already been confirmed as its release date. Hence, sneakerheads will be able to cop it a month before the Air Jordan 12 “Wool” hits the shelves.
